A Dog Friendly “Dump”

Max jumps onto a tire at dog friendly Max Everett Crowley Park

Here’s another tail for you. Have you ever taken a stroll at The Dump? Okay, so that’s not its real name, that’s just what my humans like to call it. Before it became a park, Everett Crowley Park (its actual name) used to be Vancouver’s main landfill from 1944 to 1967. Hard to believe, right? Today it’s a beautiful, forested escape filled with winding trails, meadows, and even a little pond where the ducks like to hang out.

One of the best parts? It’s dog friendly. There are so many little trails to explore, and some of them are even off‑leash. And let me tell you, an off‑leash trail, is the best kind of trail. I can trot along at my own pace, sniff every stump, investigate every patch of grass, and follow whatever interesting smell the wind brings my way. If I happen to meet another dog, well… sometimes I’m even friendly.

The park is full of surprises: shaded forest paths, open grassy areas perfect for a mid‑walk flop, there are even some fun places to practice your jumps…if you’re into that kind of thing. It’s the kind of place where you can wander for an hour and still feel like there’s more to discover next time.

Everett Crowley Park may have started as a dump, but now it’s one of the most peaceful, dog‑friendly spots around, a little slice of nature where pups like me can explore freely and humans can enjoy a calm, scenic walk.
